holyyyyyyy crap! my iPod came back from the dead!
My gen4 iPod has been dead for some months now, and I just got around it by using my iPhone for music instead. For some reason, I decided to plug it in tonight & see if it was alive at all, maybe just to use the hard drive for data, and what the hell: it woke up & started syncing.
So, we’ll see if it can actually play…I was pretty sure the disc was toast, but maybe I was wrong. I’ll be pretty damn happy if it’s going to be alive for awhile, I was really missing all the podcastage* I was able to lug around, since the iPhone can only carry a small portion.
(* I’m a huge dork, and listen to podcasts like Ricky Gervais’, Radio Lab from WNYC, This American Life, Lime & Violet, and Stash and Burn, and they are all pretty classic & worth relistening to, so I keep all of the episodes around.)
iPhone 3.0
So far: pretty good.
I’m really pleased with the changes, especially the option to remotely locate and/or wipe the iPhone’s data from MobileMe. That’s pretty cool.
And search, cut & paste, etc., all the stuff everyone’s excited about: all good.
My only wee bit of dischord is the apps I’ve got that aren’t updated yet & don’t seem to work at all, with 3.0. They’re both camera apps: Whiteboard Capture, and Camera Plus, and they crash on loading now. I use WB Capture all the time, as we spend most of our days at work diagramming flows or wireframing pages & arguing about them. And Camera Plus enabled me to take decent iPhone pictures, so I’m hoping this gets sorted out soon.
