season of spice & smoke

I love fall!
It’s chilly & windy and I just love it. Finally, I can wear sweaters I made!
So, why the hell am I here at Borders, wearing layered outdoorsy clothes for hiking & skiing?
Because I’m an idiot, that’s why.

Luckily, there’s still plenty of autumn still ahead to sort myself out.

Ikea madness

Just returned from Ikea: it’s no substitute for hiking, believe me. But it’s still pretty entertaining.
We got mostly odds & ends, which is a big switch from our usual type of trip, which culminates in me sitting surrounded by boxes and Allen wrenches for the next 6 hours or so. (I actually LIKE assembling furniture, so I’m of two minds about this outcome.)
Mom’s off to Europe for three weeks tomorrow, so it was nice to spend her last day at home doing something together.
It’s also a nice, chilly day: I love autumn days like this. Bought a hella-big pile of apples, too: Honey Crisp & Macouns, from the orchard down the road. They’re insanely good.
