of butter and burdock pickles

just finished making butter…there are all of these gadgets out there for firming up your arms, but I recommend making butter by the jar method (put cream in a jar, and shake the hell out of it until it’s butter) for tightening up the old triceps and putting an edge on the appetite. Exercise & food production in one. I guess that’s the point, isn’t it?

Also made some burdock pickles, using a recipe from the lovely foodblog, phytofoods. They should be ready to test tomorrow, and should be good for a month. Yum! I’m testing a bunch of recipes now, so that when our own burdock crop comes in, this fall, I’ll have all the guesswork dealt with.
